About HLO

My name is Sam Hamann and I am the founder of Hamann Law Office, PLLC, a boutique practice serving nonprofits, churches, and small businesses in Texas. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about serving the individuals I work with. I began my career working as a tax and corporate associate at a law firm in Fort Worth, Texas, where I focused on closely held business transactions, formation, and tax issues.

Feeling a call into ministry, I left the law practice to work at University United Methodist Church while I attended Brite Divinity School. While I had every intention of building a career working in local churches, I soon felt lead to other endeavors. After graduating with my Master of Divinity, I took a position with The Center for Nonprofit Management. While at CNM, I discovered my love for the nonprofit sector. During my six years at CNM, I worked with hundreds of organizations of all different sizes and missions. I facilitated development of more than 30 strategic plans and guided over 60 boards through training and development. In 2024, I was also ordained as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church.

In 2026, I started HLO to explore new ways of serving. Through this practice, I have expanded my reach to include churches and mission-driven businesses. I love working with people who are motivated to make their communities stronger, whether that is through nonprofit services, church and faith development, or providing services through the helping professions.

Personal Life and Background

I grew up in Maine but have lived in Texas long enough to say “y’all” now. I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, supporting TCU sports, and am an avid lover of fountain pens and good coffee.
